The light arch has been part of the Erzgebirge Christmas tradition as a festival of lights for almost 300 years. The first arch was made by a blacksmith, Johann Teller, in Johanngeorgenstadt (1726). The shape of the arch goes back to the Erzgebirge mining tradition.
For their last shift before Christmas, miners hung their lamps aroud the outline of the mine entrance. The lights formed an arch, and the entrance would shine beautifully. Then they prayed for health and safety for themselves
and their families.

Shipping Information - Mailing fees. We charge from 52 € for shipping + insurance in the USA and overseas.
Shipping charges for International Shipping are calculated based on one package. Normally 6 small items or 2 cockoo-clocks fit in one package.
We will inform our customers if we have to split the order. Customer is responsible for all local duties and taxes which may be collected upon delivery.
For shipping in the EU (EEC) we charge 8,00 € per package.
